Sculptra Advice & Information

Sculptra is reconstituted by your treating practitioner and injected into the skin to increase the volume of depressed areas, particularly to correct skin depressions, such as in skin creases, wrinkles, folds, scars and for skin aging.

During your consultation, you will be given the opportunity to ask questions and have received satisfactory answers to your questions.

In particular, you will received information regarding when treatment with Sculptra® should not take place and have also been informed of precautions, warnings for use with these products and common injection related reactions.

Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable treatment designed to restore facial volume lost due to aging or illness. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible substance that stimulates your body’s natural collagen production. It gradually improves skin structure and firmness over time, making it ideal for those seeking subtle, long-lasting rejuvenation.

EXPECTED OUTCOME

Sculptra provides natural-looking results that emerge gradually over several weeks. Most clients see noticeable improvements in skin texture, volume, and contour after a series of treatments—typically 2 to 4 sessions spaced several weeks apart. The full effects can last up to 2 years or more, as collagen continues to build.

COMMON INJECTION REACTIONS

* Itching

* Pain

* Transient bleeding

* Redness or swelling in the treatment area.

* Swelling at the injection site

* Mild bruising

* Small lumps under the skin (usually temporary and resolve on their own)

These reactions are usually resolved within a few days to one week.

RARE ADVERSE EVENTS

In some cases more serious adverse events have been reported, but these are rare. These reported reactions include:

* Persistent nodules or lumps under the skin

* Asymmetry

* Localised infection

* Allergic reaction (very rare)

* Swelling/oedema

* Pain

* Granuloma

* Symptoms of visual disturbance

* Deformity

* Scarring/atrophy

* Hypersensitivity

* Pruritus

* Rash

* Muscle disorders and ischemia/ necrosis.

In some cases injection site nodules have occurred early within weeks, or with late onset several months to over one year post-injection.

with inflammation or discoloration.

In some cases, the nodules were reported to resolve spontaneously or following treatment, but may have a prolonged time or may need surgical excision. Isolated rare cases of vision abnormalities including blindness have been reported following injection of Sculptra® into the temple area, periorbital areas or cheek.

During your treatment a topical anaesthetic cream might be used to provide pain relief, but this is not necessarily required.

The Sculptra treatment may last for up to 2 years depending on the area treated and the technique used but this period may vary, either longer or shorter. Follow-up treatment can help maintain the desired correction.
