GENERAL SIDE EFFECTS

• Slight discomfort or pain
• Redness and erythema
• Slight bruising
• Pin prick bleeding
•  Itchiness
• Swelling

POSSIBLE RISKS & COMPLICATIONS

• Hypersensitivity, allergic response, anaphylactic reaction (rare but can occur)
• Formation of nodules (lumps) around the treated area
• Infection/abscess formation following the treatment, eruption of cold sores
• Limited or none response to the treatment

AFTERCARE - 24 hours post treatment

• No infrared treatments 
• No further resurfacing treatments such as exfoliation, dermaplaning for example
• SPF factor 30 (at least) should be worn at all times
• No sunbeds
• No perfumes or aftershave on the area
• No Vitamin C products should be used
• No massage directly onto the area
• Apply a cold compress if any irritation occurs
• Avoid direct sunlight as your skin will be photosensitive
• Do not scratch or pick at the skin
• No additives should be used on the skin such as AHA’s
• No swimming or contact with chlorine
• Avoid extreme weather conditions

CONTRAINDICATIONS

• Hypersensitive skin/Inflamed or irritated skin/Eczema, Psoriasis, or Dermatitis
• Auto Immune Disorders
• Diabetes weeping acne
• Recent scarring or sunburn / heat rash
• Contagious skin disease or disorders
• Eye infections
• Open cuts and wounds
• Heat treatment in the last 24 hours ie sunbeds
• Acne or steroid based medication
• Skin Cancer
• Boils and warts
• Shingles 
• Nickel or gold sensitivity/allergy 
• Active or Pustular acne
• Haemophilia / bleeding disorders 
• Active infection of any type such as coldsores (bacterial, viral, or fungal) 
• Blood thinning medications
• Keloid/hypertrophic scarring
• Uncontrolled diabetes 
• Post Inflammatory hyper-pigmentation

CAUTIONS

• Laser surgery treatment should take place 6 months prior to treatment if required
• Sun beds and sun tanning products should not be used 7 days prior to treatment
• Products such as Accutane should not be used within the 6 months prior to treatment (seek medical advice before discontinuing)
• Chemical peels or skin procedures such as collagen injections should wait 2-3 weeks before treatment
• Waxing and tanning should not be done within 72 hours prior to having the treatment
