The images will be taken with a medical grade camera called a ‘Dermascope‘. It uses light and magnification to help a dermatologist see how your skin looks in more detail than you would be able to see w9th the naked eye. The detailed images make it easier to spot abnormalities that may need further diagnostic investigations.
Images are usually reviewed within 48 hours after they are submitted for review. We can request a copy of the report and a copy sent to yourself as soon as it is ready.
You will then be contacted to discuss your report further.
No. It is important for you to understand that it is not possible to diagnose any cancer from images, and a formal diagnosis requires a biopsy (sample removed under anaesthetic) and a historical assessment. However, the report can help identify a suspicious mole that might need further investigation such as a biopsy.
